AT THE RISE
The uncorking of a dozen or so of the world’s finest red wines and champagnes. Both seen and heard.
Interspersed among an elegant array of meat and fish, spread along a buffet table covered by luxurious linens running the width of the stage (entirely under a white satin canopy).
Lavish surroundings, from marble floors, Persian rugs, lit silver candelabras, fine china and silverware, exquisitely arranged orchids, stunningly-placed standing mirrors, and more.
The scene should be beyond anything any of the audience members can be assumed ever to have experienced.
On the table rests one ostentatiously expensive serving of meat and fish after another.
CHARACTER
Jeffrey, in his 60s, but could easily be mistaken for being in his 40s or 50s.
SCENE
Jeffrey enters, attired in the wealth that is his.
Armed with a steak knife and fork, he proceeds slowly down the table, from one end to the other, cutting off pieces of meat and fish and eating them.
Along the way he takes a short drink directly from each of the opened wine/champagne bottles:
